A man is dead after somehow becoming trapped inside the entrance of a clothing donation bin.

West Vancouver Police say the “sudden death” happened Sunday morning near the entry of the popular Ambleside Park, near the waterfront.

An off-duty physician walking in the area around 8:30 am found the man unresponsive and wedged into the bin.

West Vancouver Fire & Rescue and BC Ambulance Advanced Life Support crews arrived quickly but the man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the deceased, a 34-year-old Vancouver man, is not being released. His family has been notified, say police.

Although the cause of death has not been confirmed, foul play is not suspected, says the West Vancouver Police.

The BC Coroner Service has now taken over the investigation.
