City offering free parking to cars with Veteran plates for Veterans' Week

Dec 20 2017, 2:18 am

In honour of Veterans’ Week November 5 to November 11, all vehicles with Veteran license plates in Vancouver will be exempt from parking fees.

The exemptions exist to honour the service of veterans, as well as help them better distribute poppies during Veterans’ Week.

Parking fees will be eliminated for every vehicle sporting veteran plates at all City of Vancouver parking metres, EasyPark parcades and surfaces lots, Park Board operated parking facilities, Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, the Vancouver Aquatic Centre, and select downtown community centres, including Coal Harbour, Creekside, and Roundhouse.

The introduction of free parking during Veterans’ Week isn’t something new to the City – it has been around since at least 2012.
