The City of Delta has closed five parks because of extreme fire warnings, according to their website.
The following parks in Delta are closed:
- Boundary Bay Park Reserve
- Watershed Park
- Cougar Canyon Nature Reserve
- North 40 Park Reserve
- Delta Nature Reserve
Delta Fire, Police, the Corporation of Delta Park Controls and bylaw staff will be patrolling the parks to make sure people are not trespassing. If caught in the parks without authorization, people could be fined up to $200.
“The Corporation of Delta is asking local residents and businesses to exercise caution to reduce the risk of fires in parks, wilderness areas and Burns Bog. Extreme care must be taken during the operation of machinery and vehicles in the vicinity of these areas,” says the website.
A fire ban is also in effect in all Delta and North Vancouver parks.
