Cirque du Soleil: LUZIA is just around the corner in Vancouver, and for folks who haven’t seen this epic event, it is expected to make residents feel right at home.
The Vancouver run of LUZIA has already been extended due to popular demand, with an additional 35 performances. The show will kick off on Nov. 4 and will run through Jan. 10 at the Big Top at Concord Pacific Place.
Daily Hive got to attend an exclusive media preview of the Mexican-inspired LUZIA, which has been running since 2016. The last time LUZIA was in Vancouver was back in 2019.
One of the standout elements of the show, which Vancouverites will be very familiar with, is the signature rain curtain. The rain curtain is a 14-metre programmable water feature that will certainly lead to some awe-inspiring moments.
Those elements were created by Scène Éthique, which called the display a challenge.
“For Scène Éthique, the Luzia project represented a major design and fabrication challenge since the scenography combined water elements with mechanical and hydraulic ones.”
According to the Cirque website, the length of the show is 125 minutes, including a 25-minute intermission, and it’s an event that’s open to all ages. Tickets start at just $59.

If you’ve somehow never been to a Cirque show, it is well worth the price of admission, as some of the death-defying stunts the artists perform are truly jaw-dropping.
The live rain being woven into the performance is a first for a Cirque touring production.
LUZIA is written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, and takes viewers into an imaginary Mexico, “like in a waking dream.”
Other highlights attendees can expect include Cyr Wheel artists, aerialists, soccer freestylers, jugglers, and more.
