Cirque du Soleil Day in Vancouver, Free Cupcakes, Popcorn and Pop-Up performance

Cirque du Soleil will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary in style in Vancouver  today with a fun-filled day of birthday festivities. The Quebec-based arts organization will be treating Vancouverites to free cupcakes and popcorn, surprise ticket giveaways and a mesmerizing short pop-up performance.

Mayor Gregor Robertson will also be on hand for a special announcement, proclaiming today as Cirque du Soleil Day in Vancouver. There is also a special firework presentation that will be held at the Plaza of Nations on June 21st.

The anniversary celebration will kick off at 8:00 a.m. on June 16th at the Pacific Centre Plaza on the corner of Georgia Street and Howe Street. The public is invited and encouraged to join in on the celebrations!

Here is what is happening today:

Free Cupcakes: 

  • 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. – Pacific Centre Plaza

Mayoral Proclamation by Gregor Robertson and free pop-up performance

  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Pacific Centre Plaza: Mayor Gregor Robertson will issue a proclamation at 12:30 p.m announcing June 16th as ‘Cirque du Soleil Day’ in the City of Vancouver.

Free Cirque du Soleil Popcorn 

  • 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Pacific Centre Plaza
