Cineplex free movie day returns on October 24

DH Vancouver Staff Oct 15, 2015 1:00 pm

Clear your calendars for Saturday, October 24 – Cineplex Entertainment is offering free movies in the morning.

Cineplex’s Community Day will treat guests to a selection of family-friendly movies, with all proceeds from donations and concession sales going towards Free The Children.

Plus select concession items will be priced at $2.00 each – like you needed another excuse to buy popcorn and candy.

Last year, Community Day managed to raise over $530,000 in just one morning, and this year they are aiming to raise even more.

“We know that great movies can inspire change so we invite Canadians to join us in supporting Free The Children to empower youth across our country and around the globe,” said CEO of Cineplex Ellis Jacob in a press release.

Movies will begin at 9 a.m., with all locations returning to regular programming in the afternoon. Since the first Community Day five years ago, Cineplex said they have raised over $1.7 million for various Canadian charities.

The following movies are on the docket for Community Day:

  • Despicable Me 2
  • Fast & Furious 6
  • Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax
  • Pitch Perfect
  • Hop
  • Dumb and Dumber To

The charity Free The Children has domestic programs that include leadership opportunities and WE Schools, a yearlong program that empowers young people to take action about the things they’re passionate about.
