It’s almost becoming hard to believe at this point.
Shortly after Filip Chytil’s home country of Czechia lost to Canada at the Olympics, the 26-year-old centre hit the ice with a few of his Vancouver Canucks teammates for practice at UBC.
Chytil was spotted at practice yesterday in a red non-contact jersey. He returned for the Canucks in January after a three-month absence, playing in six games before he was ruled out of Vancouver’s final game before the Olympics with migraines.
However, Chytil wasn’t even able to escape a partial practice without another head injury.
According to Canucks reporter Jeff Paterson, Chytil took a puck to the head at practice and was dazed as he left the ice.
#Canucks practice stops suddenly as Filip Chytil got hit in head by a heavy snap shot during a mini-game. Was parked off to side of net and one-timer sailed high and caught him. Was dazed as he left the ice

Paterson added that Adam Foote said Chytil went off to get X-rays following the incident.
Global TV’s Jay Janower saidĀ that Chytil was hit by a Brock Boeser shot that ricocheted off the glass and hit the Czech forward in the face.
Even though Chytil has pushed back on some reports about his injuries, it’s clear that bad things keep happening to him.
It’s barely been over a year since Chytil joined the Canucks. In that time, he suffered head injuries thanks to hits from Jason Dickinson and Tom Wilson. He then had to leave the Canucks lineup due to migraines and now has taken a puck to the head in practice.
Although his time with the Canucks isn’t as long-tenured as Sami Salo’s or Thatcher Demko’s, he arguably ranks right up there with them in terms of horrific injury luck.
With Canucks players filtering back on the ice for practice yesterday, some notably injured skaters returned.
Zeev Buium joined Chytil on the ice in a red, non-contact jersey, as he recovers from a fractured jaw that he suffered during a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Jan. 27.
Marco Rossi, who hasn’t played for the Canucks since Dec. 30, also returned to practice as a full participant.
The Canucks play their first game after the Olympic break on Wednesday, Feb. 25, versus the Winnipeg Jets.
