If you feel like you’ve heard every Christmas story, you haven’t. This December, the improvisers at Vancouver TheatreSports League are weaving new holiday tales at The Improv Centre on Granville Island. Your Christmas dreams will come to life, and you’ll be allowed to drink at the same time. So festive!
In Christmas Queen: An Improv Comedy Fairytale, a jolly narrator is joined onstage by a group of townsfolk and the villainous Queen. She’s royalty but she wants to ruin Christmas for the townsfolk, so the audience is invited to boo and hiss at her. Of course, the story’s details are filled in using audience suggestions and, since it’s improv, all the scenes are made up on the spot by VTSL’s talented and hilarious cast members.
Will Christmas be ruined by the rotten royal, or will she awaken the holiday spirit in all of us? Will they use your hilarious shout-out suggestion? The only way to know is to get down to Granville Island. The all-ages show guarantees generous laughs, and runs Wednesday through Saturday until December 21st.
