Celebrate the holidays at Christmas at Canada Place 2014

Dec 19 2017, 9:10 pm

Christmas at Canada Place returns for its 27th year with exhibits and activities for the family along the Canadian Trail, the West Promenade of Canada Place.

The annual event usually occurs inside the levels of Canada Place, however, due to ongoing renovations to the cruise ship terminal this year’s festival has been given a different location.

There is no admission into the event, but attendees are encouraged to make an onsite donation to Strathcona Community Centre’s Food Security for Children Program, which funds food for after school care programs, youth cooking programs and day camps. In exchange, donors will receive a free Canada Place commemorative pin.

Enjoy the following events at Christmas at Canada Place 2014:

Historic Woodward’s Windows
The Woodward’s Windows are a treasured part of Vancouver’s history. Originally displayed in the popular Woodward’s department store, the windows featured classic holiday scenes with animated characters and elaborate decor. Handcrafted in the 1960s, the displays included The Candlestick Factory, Santa’s Workshop and The Lamplighter.

Following the closure of the Woodward’s department store, Canada Place purchased the displays in 1993 and has continued to incorporate them into the Christmas at Canada Place experience. The Woodward’s Windows offer nostalgia for those who remember seeing them displayed in the store and excitement for those seeing them for the first time.

Christmas Crafts
Come in, sit down and write your letter to Santa, make a reindeer headband and more!

Avenue of Christmas Trees
Come see beautifully decorated trees, made possible by Christmas at Canada Place’s sponsors.

Rudolph’s Theatre
Stroll through Rudolph’s Theatre and catch a glimpse of classic Christmas movies Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman for all to enjoy.

Christmas at FlyOver Canada
This year’s edition of Christmas at FlyOver Canada will not only include a magic journey across Canada from coast to coast but also a special trip to Santa’s North Pole workshop as he races against time to find his elves before Christmas. In addition to the festive ride, the entire attraction will be decorated into a winter wonderland.
