Chinese New Year is just around the corner and with it brings many events to the lower mainland. Here is just a taste of some of the great events taking place in Vancouver, Richmond and Burnaby.

Vancouver

What: Gung Haggis Fat Choy Robbie Burns Chinese New Year Dinner

  • One of Vancouver’s Chinese New Year traditions is this cultural fusion dinner at Chinatown’s Floata Restaurant that honours both Scottish-Canadian and Chinese-Canadian heritage. Featuring a dinner plus  live entertainment.

What: Year of the Dragon Celebration at Chinatown’s International Village
Over 150,000 visitors drop in over the three days of free fun. Festivities include live performances, entertainment, kids activities, and much more.

What: Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival & Cultural Fair

  • This year the Chinese Cultural Fair has been expanded to two days: the Saturday before the parade and Sunday, the day of the parade. The Cultural Fair takes place at Chinatown’s Sun Yat-sen Plaza.

What: Chinese New Year at  Aberdeen Centre, Richmond 

  • On the eve of Chinese New Year there will be a countdown special televised by  Fairchild TV.

What: Chinese New Year at Metropolis at Metrotown
Date: Wednesday, January 25, 2012 between 10 to 4pm
