Vancouver’s Chinatown (2nd largest in North America) has finally chosen its mascot as selected by the people of Vancouver. The mascot is none other than Muse! For the record he was my choice, not that it matters. However, the name is temporary and a new name is to be selected. If you think you have a name, feel free to send your submission to www.vancouver-chinatown.com.

This is all part of the revitalization process or Vancouver’s Chinatown as over the many years Vancouverites abandoned Chinatown in favour of Richmond and other suburbs for their Chinese market fix. Now it’s time for the youth to take back the neighbourhood, invest in it and make it great again. I believe it’s well on its way as people begin to realize the DTES is not a scary place at all.

What the mascot will do is anybody’s guess. Is he going to patrol Chinatown during the day, spreading cheer to residents and visitors alike? I’m quite curious as to what this is all about.
