Chinatown's Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden defaced with graffiti

The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden in Vancouver’s Chinatown has been defaced with graffiti — and police are investigating.

Photos show graffiti on the outer walls of the garden, which is located at 578 Carrall Street in Vancouver.

In a statement to Daily Hive, Vancouver Police Department (VPD) spokesperson Sgt. Steve Addison said reports of the vandalism were first made on Sunday around 12 pm.

“VPD did launch an investigation yesterday afternoon after a report of graffiti on the outside walls of Dr. Sun Yat Sen Gardens in Chinatown,” Addison said in an emailed statement. “There are no suspects at this time.”

The Vancouver Park Board adds that staff have been instructed to remove the graffiti.

Daily Hive has reached out to the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden for additional comment.
