A brand new flower festival is coming to the Fraser Valley this year and it’s looking to turn some heads.
The Chilliwack Sunflower Festival will be opening late this summer for its first-ever operation.
Run by the same organizers who hosted Tulips of the Valley, the festival will be held in the same location, located at 41310 Yale Road.
The festival begins on Wednesday, August 22, and will allow visitors to stroll through more than five acres of sunflowers in bloom. On-leash pets will also be welcome, with a dedicated drinking area and complimentary pick-up bags on-site.
The festival will provide multiple opportunities for coveted photo-ops with swing sets, a windmill, and a vintage bicycle all on location.
Lawn games will also be taking place, including Yardzee, bolaball, giant Jenga, tic-tac-toe, and checkers, among others.
And of course, what summer festival would be complete without cold drinks, ice cream, and local food trucks.
Photos of the sunflowers are posted on Facebook on a weekly basis, with some of the most recent photos showing giant sunflowers surpassing nine feet in height.
Hints have also been shared about a “BC Sunflower Trail” including Taves Family Farms, Campbell’s Gold Honey Farm & Meadery, the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival, and Minter Gardening.
