Chill in the Park with a day on the slopes

Feb 9 2017, 9:36 pm

For the second year in a row, Vancouverites can head up to Cypress Mountain for a day of snowboarding, scavenger hunts, and beer.

Chill in the Park is put on by the local charity Chill Vancouver in support of their youth snowboarding programs – and it’s making sure the fundraiser matches its mission.

Participants can indulge in a scavenger hunt on the mountain and a chill day boarding down the slopes. Following that there will be an after party rail jam, as well as burgers and beer for everyone involved – with the exception of the underage boarders.

“Chill provides youth with opportunities to try a unique and alternative sport outside of mainstream school activities like soccer or basketball,” says Mandi Parkes, the manager for Chill Vancouver.

“I’m continuously in awe of how the programs change the lives of so many youth. They gain a new outlook on the world, and we see them using the life skills to be strong and compassionate members of our communities.”

People interested in Chill in the Park have to create teams of four and fundraise at least $200 to participate. But if you fundraise more, you’ll win some rad prizes. Raising $250 will get you an event mug and beer cozy, $375 will get you a hat, and $500 will get you all of the above.
