Chester the cat is finally home.
The seven-month-old Scottish Fold kitten was supposed to be in B.C. in May, but was lost by Air Canada in the cargo area of Montreal’s airport – and was missing for a full month.
It was supposed to be put on a flight to Vancouver to meet his new family, who paid $1,200 to a Montreal breeder for him.
Despite coordinated searches to find the wee guy – and a big social media push – there was no sign of Chester until June 17. An Air Canada employee found the cat on airport grounds. He was dehydrated and a bit skinny but otherwise in pretty good condition.
The airline flew Chester home on a first-class flight to Vancouver Friday.
Amanda Stewart picked him up at the airport and brought him home to meet her boys.
“I’m so glad he’s home,” she wrote on Facebook. “I keep going in his room to make sure he’s still there. God only knows what he went through on the grounds out there for a month.”
Stewart said she’s disappointed by how the airline handled the mishap.
