Vancouver Cheap Eats: Ten $5 (or under) food truck finds

For all you hard working Vancouverites out there who are in need of a cheap & quick meal fix—we’ve got 10 great options in mind for you. Chowmenow.com and Vancity Buzz are excited to share our top 10 fav $5 (or under) Vancouver Food Truck Finds. Please note that this list is ordered by price and not preference.

1. Arturo’s Mexican To-Go Food Truck — $3 Tortilla Soup

Rumor has it that Arturo’s serves up one mean Tortilla Soup at only 3 dolllars! This comforting soup is perfect for one of those cloudy vancouver days.

Artuo’s is located at Howe & West Cordova St.

2. Taser Grilled Cheese Food Truck — $2.50- $5 Menu Items

They have three different sandwiches to choose from: the Classic, So Gouda, and Jelly Veg. All are within the $2.50-$5 range. Warning: they have the tendancy to bring out your inner child.

Taser Sandwiches is located at Main St & Terminal Ave.

3. Guanaco Salvadoran Truck — $4.50 Tamale de Pollo

Unravel that banana leaf and you will find yourself one sexy tamale that’s stuffed with chicken and all kinds of different vegetables.

 Guanaco is located at Robson St & Seymour.

4. Tacofina Cantina Food Truck– $4.50 Fish Taco

This is perfect for one of those days where you’re just in need of a “light” lunch. You know, something that’s inexpensive and will keep you satified until dinner time. The batter on the fish is perfect and not too heavy. The salsa is refreshing and compliments the deep fried batter nicely.

5. Feastro the Rolling Bistro $4.95 Breakfast Burrito

Woke up late and didn’t have time to eat breakfast? Ah, happens to the best of us! Not a worry– just stop by Feastro Food Truck and indulge in their $4.95 Breakfast Burttio. It’s not only tasty but also extremely filling.

 Feastro Food Truck is located at Thurlow St & West Cordova St.

 6. Street Meet Food Truck $5 Pulled Pork Risotto Balls

These round morsels of heaven are cheesy, creamy and delicate all at the same time.  And just went you think they can’t get any better–they are drizzled  with a basiltruffle aioli upon serving.  Can we talk about sophistication !?

7. Cazba Food Truck $5 Koobideh Wrap

To make the Koobideh Wrap–an extremely juicy ground beef skewer was placed between a pita wrap and topped with fixing such as basmati rice, tomatoes and onions. It was perfect.

8. The Roaming Dragon 2 for $5 Chinese Pork Sliders

The Steamed man tou bun makes these pork sliders extremely unique. Each is packed with bursting flavors of braised pork belly, pickled cucumber and hoisin sauce.

9. Slinger’s Food Truck $5 Pasta Monday’s

Slinger’s $5 Pasta Monday’s is a best kept secret amongst the downtown workers.  For just five bucks (the price of your morning latté), you can indulge in some gourmet Italian.

10. The Kaboom Box $5 Chanterelle Mushroom Poutine

This is one of those meals where you just need to repeat “I only live once”—a few times before complete inhalation.. Our recommendation? Forgive and forget your caloric intake for the day and indulge guiltlessly.
