For me, the end of 2020 demands great wine at a great value.
So, I wanted to share my personal favourites to help you finish the year strong.
Each of these wines shares three important things. They all offer amazing value, they pair well to a myriad of dinner table fare, and to put it simply, they are bloody delicious.
These are available at your local BC LDB Stores (BCLiquorStores.com), enjoy!

Medici Ermete ‘Concerto’ Lambrusco $19.99 (on sale for December $17.99)
From: Emilia Romagna, Italy
This is pure magic. You’ll find a tiny, ultra-refreshing spritz on your soul in this lightly sparkling red. It exudes a plush-bounty of liquid violets, soft-spiced plum, a cascade of black cherry and dry baked earth through an honest finish. As entertaining as watching Julia Child on Hell’s Kitchen. It will take you from zero to on-fire in an instant and hit you right in your feels.
Pairs well with laughter, friendship and seriously, anything on the dinner table. Especially foraged mushroom risotto.
Mac & Fitz ‘Kickback White’ $14.99
From: Okanagan Valley, BC
From the Cedar Creek family, this wine boasts elevated peach blossoms, the electricity of pink grapefruit, crisp cantaloupe, and Tropical insanity that all finish with a zippy pair of jazz hands. And at this price, it’s easy to share with the in-laws.
Pair sushi, salads, tofu stir-fry, or binge-watching The Office.
Villa Conchi Brut CAVA, NV $17.99 (on sale for $15.99)
From: Catalunya, Spain
Always having sparkling wine in the fridge is just as essential as water if you ask me. This wine spends 12 months on its lees (the same as NV Champagne). As for the taste, imagine enjoying your morning toast smothered in a marmalade of apple, quince, and lemon custard while wearing pyjamas with an epic floral print. At this price, you can also divert it to your Christmas morning Mimosa session.
Think charcuterie, turkey dinner, or chilled shellfish and brilliant for tolerating the Christmas morning Zoom calls that are going downhill fast.
Edoardo Miroglio ‘Bio’ Red $18.99
From: Thracian Valley, Bulgaria
From one of the oldest wine regions on the planet, this is an absolute secret weapon wine. If you love Italian reds, this is the perfect transition. A blend of their native Mavrud grape and a little Rubin (Syrah crossed with Nebbiolo) this will hit all your giggle buttons. Imagine a pie of blackberry, hibiscus, black current, and savoury herbs served on a plate of saddle leather dusted with dried rose petal and ground coffee bean.
Pairs well with stewed game or soy-glazed crispy Tempeh. The perfect wine for self-esteem and starting over.
