Two years ago I watched Sarah McLachlan serenade thousands of concert goers at the stunning Chateau Ste. Michelle winery in Woodinville, Washington and it was one of the most unique concert experiences of my life.
Chateau Ste. Michelle is a two and a half hour drive from Vancouver and worth every kilometer. The backdrop for their very popular summer concert series is nothing short of spectacular.
Hosting live performances since 1984, the Summer Concert Series has provided a stage to some of the best artists in jazz, rock, blues and contemporary music: James Taylor, The Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Diana Krall, Mark Knopfler, Alison Krauss, Crosby Stills & Nash, John Legend, and Sarah McLachlan, just to name a few.
The artists, in addition to the experience of each show is really what makes these concerts worth the drive. A picturesque outdoor amphitheater with seating for 4,300, amazing wine that you can buy right onsite, and the ability to bring in your own picnic sets this apart from any typical outdoor concert. It is the perfect atmosphere to watch one of your favourite artists. This year the line up includes:
- Paul Simon, May 28 and 29
- Bob Dylan, June 4 and 5
- Tears for Fears, June 17
- The Goo Goo Dolls and Collective Soul, July 9
- Don Henley, July 19 and 20
- John Fogerty, July 29
- Josh Groban, August 23
- Gipsy Kings, August 25
- Counting Crows, September 3
- Chris Isaak, September 4
- Ray Lamontage, September 5
