VPD Constable charged after allegedly hitting cyclist

A member of the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has been charged after allegedly hitting a cyclist with a police cruiser.

The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) has announced that Special Constable Michael Mazziotti has been charged with driving without due care and attention.

A media statement says that Mazziotti was involved in a collision involving a VPD Community Safety cruiser and a cyclist.

The incident took place on July 29, 2018, while S/Cst. Mazziotti was on duty.

He’ll make his first appearance in provincial court on August 8, 2019.

The BCPS is unable to release additional information on the incident as it is now before the court.
