Celebration of Light: The Garbage, Fights and Pissing in Public

Dec 19 2017, 1:03 pm

The Celebration of Lights Fireworks festival starts up this weekend and as with any event of this scale there will be some undesired outcomes. Three notable ones you’ll witness are littering, fights and pissing in public. Even though there are garbage cans everywhere, people still don’t have the common sense to put their litter in the bins! I know it’s difficult to move once your at English Bay and have secured your spot. Just hang on to it, or take a bag with you to hold the trash until the fireworks show is finished and then throw it in the bin.

The fights you can’t do much about. Chalk that up to alcohol fueled idiots from all over the lower mainland.

I applaud the city for doing a great job cleaning up. However, it’s time to clean up our act. Please throw your trash in the garbage bin. I’ve noticed far too often (Granville Street in particular) these days that people just throw their trash on the streets. As the city grows it’s street cleanliness has suffered. I’m not asking for Singapore stinginess here just that you toss your trash in the bin.

I’m all for this event let’s just keep it clean people.
