The Honda Celebration of Light is arriving this weekend, and along with the fireworks spectacular comes major road closures. Certain roads are blocked from 7:30 p.m. until after crowds have dispersed, which usually happens around 11 p.m. Access roads into Kits Point are closed at around 6 p.m.
Only residents will be permitted to drive in blocked areas and must show valid parking permits or other proof of their address. Towing will be heavily enforced and there will be police surrounding the blocked areas.
Here’s a list of all the roads that will be blocked:
- Davie Street from Denman Street to Thurlow Street
- Denman Street from Beach Avenue to Alberni Street
- Robson Street from Guilford Street to Thurlow Street
- Nelson Street from Guilford to Thurlow
- Beach Avenue from Guilford to Thurlow
- Bidwell Street from Beach Avenue to Alberni Street
- Cardero Street from Beach to Alberni
- Nicola Street from Beach to Alberni
- Broughton Street from Beach to Alberni
- Jervis Street from Beach to Alberni
- Bute Street from Beach to Alberni
- Thurlow Street from Beach to Alberni
- All roads between Arbutus Street to Chestnut Street near Vanier Park
Celebration of Light 2015
- Saturday, July 25: China by Team Lidu
- Wednesday, July 29: Brazil by Group Vision Show
- Saturday, August 1: Canada by Archangel Fireworks
All shows begin at 10 p.m. and end at 10:25 p.m – rain or shine.
