Celebration of Light: Throw Your Garbage in The Bin PSA

Dec 19 2017, 4:01 pm

Mornings after The Celebration of Light fireworks at English Bay parks and beaches usually look like what’s pictured in the photo above. This happens despite the large number of garbage bins placed across the popular viewing areas.

Crowds have historically taken the lazy and irresponsible route of leaving their garbage all over our city’s precious waterfront public spaces.

The City of Vancouver’s clean-up and garbage crews do a great job in getting it all cleaned up before the majority of Vancouverites get up the next day. However, that doesn’t mean you should litter.

Please take your garbage with you and dispose of it in a bin.

If it helps, bring an extra plastic bag with you and use that bag to store any trash you may have. Dispose that bag full of trash at the nearest garbage bin. It takes less than a minute, and it’s not that difficult to do.

Do the right thing, Metro Vancouverites.
