Where to celebrate Macaron Day 2015 in Vancouver

March 20 is Macaron Day, and Vancouver is ready to celebrate the petite treat.

“Le Jour du Macaron” was started in 2005 in Paris by pastry chef Pierre Hermé, and the tradition continues on around the world.

In Vancouver, several cafés and bakeries specializing in macarons are having special events in honour of Macaron Day. Here is how you can celebrate Macaron Day 2015 in Vancouver.

French Made Baking

This Parisian café will be all about macarons on March 20, offering their small and large ones, as well as having their chefs on hand making macarons and there to talk about the treat. The event is also a fundraiser. Everyone who visits French Made Baking to celebrate “Macaron Day” will be given a bite-sized macaron and invited to make a donation to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. On top of that, part of all macarons sales will be donated to the Foundation.

Bel Café

This year at Bel Café, pastry Chef Wayne Kozinko will be doing a limited edition Coconut Cream Pie Macaron ($2) in limited quantities, so get there before they sell out.

Soirette

For their fourth annual Macaron Day, Soirette is supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC and Yukon by giving away macarons for a suggested donation, and giving all donations and a portion of the day’s sales to the foundation. Visit Soirette at their regular location or check out their Holt Renfrew pop-up shop (March 13-25 on the Skybridge), and try their new spring flavours Hibiscus Dream, Cherry Blossom, and Vancouver Fog.

Faubourg

For Macaron Day, Faubourg will offer its signature Parisian-style macarons for $1 each (half off the regular price), match every dollar of macaron sales and donate 100% of gross proceeds to the Canadian Cancer Society. Check out signature Faubourg flavours like Lavender Earl Grey and Raspberry Rose, among others, available at all of their locations, including their third one, in West Vancouver.
