It’s time to exchange our swim suits for sweaters, our popsicles for pies, and our golden tans for golden leaves. Yes, fall is finally upon us.

As Canadians, we’re built for the cold, and whether you want to explore the great outdoors and enjoy a cozy day in, Vancouver has plenty of options for those of you looking to celebrate autumn’s arrival.

Get a taste of fall at a farmers’ market

Set your tastebuds tingling by visiting one of Vancouver’s farmers’ markets. Throw on your favourite sweater and take a stroll around the stalls to check out some of your favourite fall items.

Get your pumpkin spice on

Besides the pumpkin spice latte, there’s some great Vancouver spots to snag some fall flavoured treats.

Vancouver favourite Lucky’s Doughnuts (2902 Main St.) is kicking off fall in a big way with their new Pumpkin Cheesecake Bismarck, so you can celebrate the changing season with their new fall-infused creation, complete with a pumpkin filling.

Aphrodite’s Organic Cafe & Pie Shop (3605 W 4th Ave) specializes in drool-worthy pies made from local organic fruit, and their take on the classic pumpkin treat is no exception.

For those who don’t do gluten, Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery (3385 Cambie St) has a scrumptious pumpkin pie tart.

Check out the changing leaves in one of Vancouver’s parks

Queen Elizabeth Park: Nestled at 4600 Cambie St., Queen Elizabeth Park is one of the most picturesque places to spend your first day of fall. With well-maintained greenery and spectacular city views, the park is ideal for your first fall Instagram post.

Stanley Park: For a lengthier, active day, stroll the sea wall in the crisp fall air or explore the trails at Stanley Park. Horse-drawn tours of the park are also available now until the end of October, rain or shine (this is Vancouver, after all).

Take a hike

The best way to celebrate the arrival of autumn is to get out there and soak it all in. Vancouver boasts an array of fall-friendly hikes from urban strolls along tree-lined streets to full blown rambles through the North Shore forests.
