This festive season, why not give a pup present that gives back?
Designer Jesse Nightingale of Handsome Mountain Pet Supplies has collaborated with notable Vancouver pet owners on a line of custom dog collars.
She says each handcrafted leather and vegan leather piece reflects the personality of this “absolutely inspiring and wonderful group of women”: CTV’s Tamara Taggart, To Die For’s Erin Ireland, Jackie Kai Ellis of Beaucoup Bakery, TV host Kristina Matisic, and yours truly.
The best part? Handsome Mountain is donating 25 per cent of all proceeds to the SPCA for each collar sold in December.
The Tamara & George
Inspired by “busy bee” mother-of-three and CTV News at Six anchor Tamara Taggart, the George celebrates her new rambunctious five-month-old Airedale terrier pup. The black and rose gold collar with tie detail is truly original and dashingly handsome.

The Erin & Effie Girl
A constant companion on her morning hikes or seawall runs, the collar for food blogger Erin Ireland’s dog Effie is perfect for canines that run free and wild. “Erin is outdoorsy, adventurous, and fun…so we figured this would make her Effie dog feel like the ‘Wilderness Queen’ along her side,” says Nightingale.

The Jackie & Polly
Inspired by Jackie Kai Ellis, owner of Beaucoup Bakery, and her super sweet girl, Polly. This rescue pooch tags along with the baker as she tours Europe and researches pieces for her travel writing, which is regularly featured in the Vancouver Sun and Montecristo Magazine. The Polly features antique brass hardware and a removable leather bowtie with hand-painted details.

The Darcy & Seymour
This outdoorsy plaid collar is inspired by my rescue pup Seymour, who is constantly by my side as we explore the wilderness of beautiful B.C. This wee man loves spending time in the woods! The mahogany leather collar has a colourful plaid stripe and comes with a bonus cotton flannel hat, with FAUX fur pom pom. It doesn’t get more B.C. than that! I may be bias, but I think this is the best one.

The Kristina & Ruby
PR maven, TV host and SPCA ambassador, darling pup Ruby is always by mamma Kristina Matisic’s side and are truly an inspirational “pack.” The Ruby collar features riveted flower details and a larger removable suede flower if you feel like dressing it up.
