Vancouver radio host releasing book of personal poetry
Creating community and connection and entertainment.
That’s how Vancouver radio personality Casey-Jo Loos describes her afternoon hosting gig at 102.7 THE PEAK FM.
For the last six years, she’s been live on the air from 2 to 6 pm weekdays chatting with listeners, sharing stories and connecting with people from all around the region.
But now the host, who is also a certified meditation and yoga teacher — and self-professed “ambassador of awesome” — is taking on a new and very personal project.
Loos is releasing a self-published volume of poetry on February 1st called “i see you. i am you.”
“I am a lover, a writer, a speaker, a mental health advocate, a connector, a lover of the West Coast and doughnuts. I have been telling stories ever since I could speak and writing ever since I could write,” she tells Daily Hive.
The collection is full of reflections, musings and meanderings “in digestible self-help nuggets.”
Loos says readers should expect thoughts on love, loss, pain, suffering, the internet, letting go, as well as self-awareness.
“This collection hopes to connect the dots in the constellation of our history, for us to feel more understood, more seen, and to feel a little less alone,” she says.
She wants to offer inspiration, empowerment and sometimes humour, “all the time no-filter, with a slight aftertaste of a memoir.”
The 286-page book, which features 30 illustrations by in-demand tattoo artist Vanessa Dong, is broken up into seven chapters: loving, fleeing, being, bleeding, breathing, scrolling, seeing.
Because music is such an important part of Loos’ life, the back of the book has a surprise Spotify code to link the buyer to seven different playlists that accompany each chapter.
Each pre-order of the book receives a hand-selected crystal with a write up on its healing properties and a hand-folded paper crane.
“i see you. i am you.”
Where to buy: The book will be for sale at Pulp Fiction Books on Main Street and Commercial Drive.
