Vancouver Coastal Health has confirmed three cases of COVID-19 at Lions Gate Hospital.

In a statement, VCH says three administrative staff members of Lions Gate Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19 and are self-isolating at home and are recovering.

“They have not worked in clinical areas at Lions Gate Hospital,” said VCH.

The health authority says medical health officers are investigating the source of the transmission. They are also following up with the staff who may have had close contact with individuals who tested positive.

Starting today, Lions Gate Hospital is restricting visitor access to family members only and will be posting signs to notify staff, patients, and visitors to the hospital, out of an abundance of caution.

“We are not restricting patient access to Lions Gate Hospital. Ambulatory patients will be contacted ahead of their appointments for symptom screening,” said VCH.

With coronavirus on the rise, the BC Ministry of Health is reminding individuals who attend events and large gatherings to monitor their health for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. And if you’re not feeling well, they recommend staying home at this time. Also, due to unexpected cancellations, please check the event you plan to attend is still taking place. Keep up with COVID-19 news here.
