Vancouver’s Cartems Donuterie has become a modern classic doughnut shop, and this week the artisan treat-maker is prepping to open the doors to their third brick-and-mortar location, this time in Kitsilano.
Situated in a brand-new space at 3040 West Broadway, the newest Cartems shop in the fold is approximately 1,600 square feet, and features lots of natural light courtesy street-facing windows and what Cartems’ Jordan Cash describes as “garage door-style” outdoor seating.
Via telephone, Cash described the location’s “cleaner look,” and concrete flooring–a bit of a switch up from the more vintage vibe from the warm red brick of the Pender Street original shop, or the Heritage style of the Main Street location.

Inside the space customers will also find a large communal table outfitted with outlets for anyone wishing to hang out and get some work done while enjoying a treat and a drink.
“We took this space because it exemplifies what’s important to us,” Cash adds, noting he also calls Kitsilano home, and appreciates the community feel of this particular pocket of the neighbourhood.
The plan is to build more community with this new Cartems in the area, and to implement some popular features from the Main Street location, like parent-child Story Time, and Open Mic nights.
When it comes to what’s on the menu, Cartems fans will find the same array of goodies that are on offer at Main Street, including Elysian Coffee, Earnest Ice Cream, Dickie’s Ginger Beer, and, of course, doughnuts.
Since Pender Street’s kitchen serves as the hub for all of the Cartems doughnuts, the flavours will remain consistent through the three locations, with an aim to always have the best sellers always in stock, along with rotating monthly feature flavours.
Though it might seem like Cartems is going to keep growing their delicious Vancouver doughnut empire, Cash jokes that they are going to “open this one and chill,” and just get this third one off the ground and catch their breath before considering additional expansion.
With the final steps of the permitting underway, Cash says Cartems on Broadway could be open as soon as the morning of Tuesday, July 5, otherwise expect to seem them serving up doughnuts later this week. Once opening is greenlit, the Broadway location’s hours will be 8 am to 10 pm weekdays, 9 am to 10 pm Saturdays, and 9 am to 8 pm Sundays.
