Mar 7 2019, 7:28 am

Vancouver’s ever-popular Car Free Day is returning for another summer in several of the city’s most popular neighbourhoods.

The event, typically held over three days, promotes the growth of car-free zones and collaboration with a variety of Vancouver’s local communities.

Best of all, there are no cars in sight.

Car Free Day Vancouver will return on the following dates at the following locations:

  • Saturday, June 15, 2019, in the West End
  • Sunday, June 16, 2019, on Main Street
  • Sunday, July 7, 2019, on Commercial Drive

Car Free Day in the West End will be held between Robson Street and Davie Street from 12 to 7 pm and includes music stages, jam sessions, and art exhibitions.

Car Free Day on Main Street is the biggest of Vancouver’s festivals and spans 21 blocks from Broadway and 30th, in the heart of Mount Pleasant.

Entering its 12th year, visitors can expect 15 stages and a number of miniature festivals along the entire street, with kid-zones, skateboarders, funky artisan shops, and food vendors.

Car Free Day on Commercial Drive will be entering its 15th annual year. The event spans across 15 blocks and will feature 12 stages and performance tents, amazing local artists and performers, two family fun zones, and roller boogie.

As per usual, attendance to the three events are free, and visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle, or transit to get to the festivities.
