Whatever you call it, you know you have it. And whether you want to explore your creativity through design and illustration, bring stories to life through film or live theatre, or move people with music, a career in the creative arts isn’t just a job. It’s who you are.
With programs in design, motion picture arts, theatre, music, along with arts and entertainment management, Capilano University’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts is home to an incredibly talented creative community, as well as state-of-the-art studios and facilities.
If you’ve ever considered a creative career, this November is a great time to check out the programs offered at Cap’s North Vancouver campus. We’ve collected all the event details here.

Aspiring musicians are invited to the Jazz Studies Open House to enjoy a performance by the Amanda Tosoff Quartet. Participants can watch open rehearsals for the Rhythmic Music Ensemble and Capilano’s jazz ensemble, C Band. Don’t forget to tour the Jazz Studies department.

Want to know what it takes to be a graphic designer, art director, illustrator, or interactive designer? Come learn about Cap’s Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication degree at the IDEA School of Design’s Open Studio Day. Join in on the information session, then head off on a studio tour. Bring a portfolio, several pieces of artwork, or a sketchbook for a friendly faculty critique to strengthen your application.

If you love being centre stage or working behind the scenes on a production, don’t miss Capilano’s Theatre Department Open House. Come for the information session, then sit in on classes in musical theatre, directing, acting, jazz dance, and more. End the day watching a rehearsal for A Christmas Carol, performed by third-year students in the Acting for the Stage and Screen program.

If you don’t know exactly what you want to do, then this information night will be just right. Whether you want to go to university next fall, or are just exploring your education options, you’ll learn lots. Bring your friends and family to start getting a feel for the university.
When: Saturday, November 26, 11 am
Where: Bosa Centre for Film and Animation, 2055 Purcell Way, North Vancouver
Visit the Bosa Centre’s 8,000 square foot sound stage featuring an interdisciplinary film shoot incorporating green screen, motion capture and visual effects. Take a tour of the state-of-the-art post-production facilities, including sound mixing and recording studios along with picture and sound editing labs. There are also studios for visual effects, animation, and costuming studios. Also, attend a Q & A with faculty and students in the high-definition, 3D theatre.
