Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge returns for its 10th season

Dec 19 2017, 6:37 pm

The magical display of Christmas lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge returns for Canyon Lights’ 10th annual season on Friday, November 27.

The all-season park amidst the towering canopy of Capilano Canyon in North Vancouver converts into a truly stunning display of Christmas lights each year during December. It’s the sort of holiday extravaganza that is so ‘Vancouver’ – and yet so classical – you can’t bear to miss it.

The 450-foot suspension bridge, as well as the many trees and canyon area surrounding it, light up with thousands of twinkling and colourful lights, and the Cliffwalk attraction offers a dazzling look downward into the dark canyon below.

Guests can also take part in the new VocaLites, a voice-activated light show inside the rainforest. While the lights are the event’s main draw, the entire park comes alive in the spirit of Christmas with a holiday band, a kid’s scavenger hunt, gingerbread cookie decorating, family photos and more.

Partial proceeds from Canyon Lights will go to the BC Professional Firefighters’ Burn Fund for fire education in schools. To date, the Capilano Suspension Bridge has raised $192,000 for the cause.

Tickets to Canyon Lights are the same as the park’s regular admission, and as always, B.C. residents who purchase an admission once get free access to the attraction for the next year, along with a slew of other discounts. Residents of North Vancouver who live in the V7R postal code also get unlimited free admission all year round.

Making the short trek to North Vancouver? A free shuttle from Canada Place to Capilano Suspension Bridge and back will leave every 30 minutes between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. from November 27 to January 3, 2016.
