The Canucks got some bad news yesterday, learning that they’ll be without defenceman Alex Edler and centre Brandon Sutter for 6+ weeks. There are only 8 weeks left in the regular season.
#Canucks announce injury timelines for Edler (6 wks) and Sutter (6-8 wks following successful surgery to repair a jaw fracture).

The timeline for Sutter is less surprising. He’ll be out of the lineup with a fractured jaw for about the same length of time that Dan Hamhuis was out.
Both players were injured in the game against Colorado on Tuesday.
They’re also both part of the first-unit power play. Their spots will be taken by Yannick Weber and Linden Vey tonight.
Edler and Sutter play in all situations, so losing them both is a huge blow to the Canucks’ playoff hopes.
