The Vancouver Canucks introduced a new jersey into their wardrobe today, as part of the NHL’s “reverse retro” concept.

All 31 NHL teams unveiled new jerseys, with the Canucks opting to refresh an alternate uniform they wore from 2001 to 2006. For select games next season, the Canucks will rock the old design, which has been given new colours.

The burgundy gradient jersey has been given an update, with green featured more prominently than in any Canucks jersey before. The team’s familiar Orca logo remains on the crest.

The Canucks didn’t go as bold as some other teams, like the Anaheim Ducks or Arizona Coyotes, who reverted back to their outrageous 1990s third jerseys. Other notable reverse retros include those of the Colorado Avalanche and Carolina Hurricanes, who will be rocking looks inspired by the Quebec Nordiques and Hartford Whalers, respectively.

Here’s a closer look at the Canucks’ new threads.
