Canucks trade Nick Bonino to Penguins for Brandon Sutter

Vancouver Canucks announced today they have traded forward Nick Bonino, defenceman Adam Clendening and a 2nd round draft pick in 2016 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Brandon Sutter and a 3rd round draft pick in 2016.

Sutter, 26, was drafted 11th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2007 playing four seasons before being traded to the Penguins in 2012. In 495 career NHL games, Sutter has a total of 185 points, scoring 98 goals and 87 assists. He comes in with a cap hit of $3.3 million and is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2015-16 season.

The Canucks acquired Bonino in the trade with Anaheim in June 2014, which saw Ryan Kesler leave Vancouver. Bonino scored 15 goals and 24 assists in 75 games with the Canucks last season. Bonino had a cap hit of $1.9 million through to the 2016-17 season.
