Canucks to play UBC Thunderbirds in Oct. 17 charity game

Starved for hockey during the NHL lockout? The UBC Thunderbirds men’s hockey team will be playing against the Vancouver Canucks and other NHL players on October 17th in a charity game at UBC’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.

The match will be played on Wednesday, October 17th, with the puck dropping at 7 pm. Tickets go on sale at 10 am on Saturday, October 6 (tomorrow) through Ticketmaster.ca. All 5,000 tickets at UBC’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre are priced at $20.00 plus taxes and service fees. Tickets are expected to sell out quickly, be sure to get your tickets early.

The lineup for what has been dubbed as “Bieksa’s Buddies Charity Hockey Game” is growing, so far it includes Kevin Bieksa, Daniel and Henrik Sedin, Chris Higgins, Dan Hamhuis, Manny Malhotra, Max Lapierre, Cory Schneider, 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Willie Mitchell and others. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, Canucks Family Education Centre, and the Canucks Autism Network.
