Quinn Hughes will surely walk away with multiple Vancouver Canucks team awards this year.
The Canucks captain has put together one of the best seasons in franchise history, drawing Norris Trophy and even Hart Trophy consideration before getting injured in late January. While Hughes likely won’t win a major league award this year (though he should be nominated for the Norris again), he’s a lock to win more than one team award.
Four Canucks team awards are decided by a fan vote, which is now open to the public. While write-in votes are allowed, four-to-six finalists were listed for each award.
Hughes should win his first team MVP award, and he’s a shoo-in for a sixth-straight best defenceman nod.
But will he win most exciting player? You could make a case for Conor Garland and Kiefer Sherwood, but it’s hard to bet against Hughes, who will become just the second defenceman in Canucks history to lead the team in scoring.
Speaking of Sherwood, he’ll draw heavy consideration for unsung hero. We’ve already made the case for Tyler Myers.
The most competitive award once again this season, other finalists listed include: Pius Suter, Teddy Blueger, Kevin Lankinen, and Derek Forbort.
The #Canucks are excited to announce that fan voting for the 2024.25 Team Awards is now open!
Fans can cast their votes for four player awards, with voting closing on April 8 at 11:59 p.m.
