The Vancouver Canucks have inked a deal with UFA goaltender Ryan Miller for $18 million over 3 years.
The Canucks were in need of a number one goalie (sorry Eddie Lack, you just weren’t ready yet) – and it comes with a hefty price tag: a $6 million cap hit.
Miller, 33, was drafted 138th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He remained with the club until he was traded to the St. Louis Blues prior to the trade deadline this past season.
Vancouverites will remember Miller as the goalie Crosby scored the Golden Goal on in the 2010 Olympics, a tournament where he was named top goaltender. That year was also the same year Miller was awarded the NHL’s Vezina Trophy as goalie of the year.
