Canucks' Ryan Kesler sidelined by fractured right foot

There is some bad news for Ryan Kesler and Vancouver Canucks fans. Coach Alan Vigneault has confirmed that the team’s second line centre has a broken right foot and could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

The fracture was revealed this Wednesday morning after a CT scan showed the broken bone. It is not known when it occurred, although TEAM 1040 has reported it could have happened as many as four games ago on February 24 when he blocked a shot against the Dallas Stars.

Two X-rays were also taken, but other than some reported discomfort it took a CT scan to reveal the injury. Fractures typically take between four to six weeks to heal. This injury comes after Kesler’s previous shoulder and wrist surgeries last spring. He has already missed 12 games this season to recover.

With yesterday’s 4-2 lost against the Coyotes, the Canucks have now lost three straight home games at Rogers Arena.
