Canucks recall Anton Rodin from Utica

Anton Rodin is ready to play an NHL game for the Vancouver Canucks… Finally!

The 26-year-old winger is now more than seven years removed from when he was drafted in the second round by the Canucks. He had a slow start to his professional career and has yet to appear in an NHL game.

He left for Sweden in 2013 and left the consciousness of most people until an MVP season in the Swedish Hockey League last season. Rodin missed the end of last season with a knee injury, and reaggravated it with Vancouver during the preseason.

Now, after a three-game conditioning stint with the Utica Comets where he picked up one assist, Rodin is back, getting recalled by the Canucks.

Where Rodin will fit with the Canucks is uncertain for now. Look for him to start on the fourth line and be moved up in the event of an injury or if Markus Granlund or Sven Baertschi slip up.
