The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed centre Linden Vey to a one-year, $1 million contract.
Vey, who was acquired indirectly for Jason Garrison a year ago, had an underwhelming first season in Vancouver. The soon to be 24-year-old will once again look to prove he belongs as an NHL regular next season.
Vey had 10 goals and 24 points in 75 games last year, his rookie season. Those numbers aren’t bad, though he seemed to get worse as the season went on. Half of Vey’s points were scored in the first two months of the season.
Next season will be a very important one for Vey, as the Canucks have some young centres in the system that may take his job in 2016-17 if he doesn’t perform well next season.
