Canucks players to greet/thank fans prior to game tonight - no ticket required

Dec 20 2017, 5:14 am

The Vancouver Canucks will be doing something a little different before tonight’s season finale: they’re going to meet the fans.

The Canucks announced that as part of Fan Appreciation Night, every Canucks player and select alumni will arrive as a group to greet and thank fans outside of Rogers Arena before tonight’s game.

Pat Quinn Way will be closed off and transformed into a ‘Fan Zone’. Fans are encouraged to show up to see the players between 3:30-4:00 p.m.

The best part: you can meet the players with or without a ticket to tonight’s game.

One lucky fan at the Fan Zone will also be selected to announce the Unsung Hero Award, as voted by the fans.

Here is a rundown of the rest of today’s activities:

PARTY ON THE PLAZA – 4:00pm – 6:45pm

The Toyota Plaza on the North side of Rogers Arena will feature music, the Fanboni (beginning at 3:30pm), a BBQ featuring a Loaded Sicilian Spicy Sausage and soda for $5 plus a beer garden, presented by Budweiser (5:00-7:00pm).

Fans will also have the opportunity to see Canada’s Goal Light, a 20-foot tall version of the original Budweiser Red Light, as it makes a stop outside of Rogers Arena as part of its tour around the hockey world prior to its final destination at the North Pole.

To mark the 20th anniversary of Rogers Arena, select members of the 1995.96 Canucks team will be on hand for an alumni signing from 4:00-6:00pm.

PLAYER AWARDS AND SEASON FINALE GAME – 6:45 pm

Fans with tickets to the game are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:45pm (doors open at 6:00pm) for the presentation of the 2015.16 player awards, including the Most Valuable Player, Best Defenceman, Most Exciting Player, and Leading Scorer. Each fan in attendance will receive a commemorative magazine prior to puck drop and will be eligible to win a number of great prizes throughout the course of the game, including a suite to be enjoyed at a Canucks game next season.
