After a season where everything went wrong, there’s nowhere to go but up.
Although no one expects the Canucks to be very good next season, it would certainly be beneficial for the club if a handful of these veterans could rediscover their games.
A bounce-back from any of these players would push the rest of the roster to step up their game. But, most importantly, it would give the Canucks more trade chips to work with.
Here are seven players who could repair their trade value for the Canucks next season.
1. Elias Pettersson
- 2025-26 stats: 74 GP, 15 G, 36 A, 51 PTS
How many Canucks fans still believe in an Elias Pettersson bounce-back?
While the reality of that happening has dwindled throughout his 2.5-season drought, he is still just 27 years old.
Pettersson will need to put in the work, as various people in Canucks management have suggested over the years. But, perhaps, Manny Malhotra can be the guy to unlock Petey’s potential.
2. Brock Boeser
- 2025-26 stats: 75 GP, 22 G, 26 A, 48 PTS
Boeser has averaged 24 goals and 55 points per 82 games in four of his last five seasons, with the one outlier being his 40-goal, 73-point campaign in 2023-24.
If there is a glimmer of hope that he can rebound, it’s because of his chemistry with Marco Rossi. In Boeser’s final 24 games last season, he potted 10 goals and added 23 points while playing alongside the new Canucks centre.
3. Jake DeBrusk

- 2025-26 stats: 81 GP, 23 G, 19 A, 42 PTS
The term “power play merchant” applied to Jake DeBrusk last season.
A whopping 19 of his 23 goals came with the man advantage. At five-on-five, DeBrusk scored just three goals.
He’s probably due for some better shooting luck at five-on-five, where he scored just three goals on 121 shots last season, good for a 2.48 per cent shooting percentage.
Among 350 forwards who had at least 50 five-on-five shots, DeBrusk’s shooting percentage was lowest in the league.
4. Filip Chytil
- 2025-26 stats: 12 GP, 3 G, 0 A, 3 PTS
If Filip Chytil can ever stay healthy for a stretch, he could be the Canucks’ most exciting player.
The 26-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance during his brief playing time in Vancouver. His health is such a big if but if he rebounds, he’ll have trade value considering that he’s a pending unrestricted free agent.
5. Brendan Gallagher
- 2025-26 stats: 77 GP, 7 G, 16 A, 23 PTS
Brendan Gallagher showed a lot of love to the City of Vancouver when he expressed his desire to play here.
But, if he rebounds, you’d think a player wired like him would want another shot at winning a Stanley Cup.
The 34-year-old should get more playing in Vancouver. He’s a likeable veteran that should have some trade value, if the Canucks decide to trade the pending UFA.
6. Thatcher Demko
- 2025-26 stats: 20 GP, 8-10-1, 2.95 GAA, .895 SV%
When healthy, there aren’t many goalies who can match Thatcher Demko’s talent. Of course, his health has been a massive issue.
Demko has played just 22.7 per cent of Canucks games since suffering an injury in March of 2024. He needs a run of health before trading him even becomes a conversation.
If he does stay healthy and showcase his form, teams could certainly take a gamble on him. But, because trusting his health is an issue, a trade sometime next season could look like the John Gibson deal from 2025, where the former Anaheim goaltender fetched the Ducks a second-round pick, fourth-round pick and Petr Mrazek.
7. Kevin Lankinen
- 2025-26 stats: 47 GP, 11-27-5, 3.70 GAA, .876 SV%
The 2025-26 season couldn’t have gone worse for Kevin Lankinen.
All of the goodwill he earned during his first season in Vancouver dissipated last year. The defensive structure did him no favours, but he wasn’t able to save the Canucks bacon with the same frequency as he did the year prior.
Still, there are always a couple of teams desperate for goalies. If Tristan Jarry can fetch a second-round pick, there’s always the chance that Lankinen could garner a similar return in a trade.
