Canucks to play game in Utah next season

It’s not exactly a trip to China, but the Vancouver Canucks will be playing in front of fans that don’t often get to see NHL hockey up close next season.

We’re a few months away from the schedule being released officially, but folks in Utah are already advertising a game between the Canucks and Los Angeles Kings in September.

Vancouver and LA appeared in the first two NHL exhibition games in China last September, playing in Shanghai and Beijing.

This time they’ll be playing a preseason game on September 24 at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, the home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz. It’s the first NHL preseason game to come to Utah in 10 years. Salt Lake will see NHL games in 2018, 2019, and 2020 as part of the three-year agreement.

The game will serve as a home game for the Kings, meaning this won’t affect the allotment of games seen at Rogers Arena. The trip will be a little bit shorter than a flight to LA for the Canucks, as Salt Lake City is just a 2:15 commute from YVR.
