An addition has been made to Adam Foote’s coaching staff.
The Vancouver Canucks are hiring Kevin Dean as an assistant coach, according to a report from Thomas Drance of The Athletic.
Hearing #Canucks will be hiring former Blackhawks, Bruins assistant coach Kevin Dean, whose name @DhaliwalSports surfaced last week, to join Adam Foote’s staff.
Foote and the club are still finalizing the rest of the staff. Expect Dean hire to be announced when that’s complete.

The 56-year-old native of Madison, Wisconsin, spent the past three years working on Luke Richardson’s staff with the Chicago Blackhawks. Prior to Chicago, Dean was Bruce Cassidy’s assistant with the Boston Bruins. Dean is also fresh off winning a gold medal with Conor Garland, Drew O’Connor and the rest of Team USA at the IIHF World Championship.
Dean’s name was floated as a “possible fit” by CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal last week.
“The Canucks really like this guy,” Dhaliwal said on Donnie and Dhali, adding that a league source told him Dean is a “smart defensive coach” that’s “great with the kids.”
Dean is expected to handle the Canucks’ defencemen, which was Foote’s previous role. The new Canucks head coach has said he will be hiring two assistants — one to handle the defencemen and another taking on a more offensive role.
