Another day, another Vancouver Canucks goalie move.
On Monday, the team announced that goaltender Ty Young had been sent back down to the AHL. The move was followed by fellow netminder Arturs Silovs being called up from Abbotsford.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that G Ty Young has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL) and G Arturs Silovs has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL).

Silov’s AHL stint was brief as the Canucks sent him down to call up top prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki in a Sunday morning roster move that involved five players. The 23-year-old got the start in Abbotsford’s 4-2 win against the Bakersfield Condors, stopping 23 out of 25 shots for a .920 SV%.
Hopefully, the victory does something for his confidence as Silovs has seen a rough start to the 2024-25 NHL season. The Latvia native is 0-2-1 with Vancouver this year, posting an underwhelming 3.17 GAA and .876 SV%.
Suffice it to say, Vancouver fans are eagerly awaiting the return of starting goalie Thatcher Demko, who has yet to suit up for a game this year due to injury. While there’s still no timeline for his return, the 28-year-old took shots from teammates as he suited up for practice on Thursday.
Coming off an embarrassing blowout loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, the Canucks, who sit third in the Pacific Divison’s standings, will look to get back in the win column when they host the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.
