Former Canucks assistant GM Lorne Henning is also making the move.
Gillis taught a sports law course at the University of Victoria this past school year. Peter Gall, who helped Gillis teach the class, will also be joining the Board of Directors.
“We all share the same vision,” said Geneve-Servette HC owner Hugh Quennec. “We want to develop the role of the club in this community, promote the emergence of young talents, participate in the development of hockey in Switzerland and build a new rink which will be a place of reference for the region.”
Geneve-Servette finished third in the Swiss league last season, and were led in scoring by former Montreal Canadiens winger Matt D’Agostini. Tom Pyatt, brother of former Canucks winger Taylor Pyatt, is another notable name on the team.
