Canucks call-up Markstrom, send down Bachman

The Canucks have recalled goaltender Jacob Markstrom from his conditioning stint with the Utica Comets, sending down Richard Bachman in the process.

Markstrom injured his hamstring on October 6, after an impressive preseason where he appeared in 4 games, posting 1 shutout, 1.01 GAA, and .962 SV%. He appeared in two games with the Comets on the weekend, posting a 1-0-1 record, 2.40 GAA and .909 SV%. He allowed 4 goals on 34 shots on Friday, and 1 goal on 21 shots on Saturday.

Markstrom should give Ryan Miller some relief sometime on this upcoming road trip, perhaps as soon as tomorrow in Columbus. Miller has started 14 of 15 games for the Canucks this season, and a healthy and productive Markstrom will be vitally important to keep the 35-year-old veteran fresh.
