Abbotsford Canucks announce details for Calder Cup celebration

While it might not be the hoopla that would come with a Stanley Cup parade, the Vancouver Canucks organization is finally hosting a championship celebration.

The Abbotsford Canucks, fresh off a Calder Cup victory on Monday night that marked the first-ever piece of championship hardware for the organization, will be bringing the trophy home to celebrate later this week.

“From opening the playoffs against Tucson to hoisting the Calder Cup in Charlotte, the Canucks’ playoff journey was nothing short of remarkable. This championship run was built on grit, resilience, and the unrelenting support of a passionate fan base,” the release reads.

The event kicks off at the Abbotsford Centre at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening an hour earlier. Tickets for the celebration, with proceeds going to the Canucks for Kids fund, cost $5 for the event and are available now on Ticketmaster.

“The night will also include appearances from Canucks alumni, exclusive championship merchandise, and fun for the whole family with photo ops featuring Fin and the Fanboni. Whether you’re a longtime season ticket holder or new fan, this is your chance to be part of Canucks history.”

Though the Abbotsford affiliate have only been around since 2021, the Canucks had never seen any of their previous primary minor league teams in Rochester, Seattle, Dallas, Tulsa, Fredericton, Milwaukee, Hamilton, Syracuse, Kansas City, Manitoba, Chicago, or Utica lift the Calder Cup while associated with Vancouver.

The playoff run was one for the ages, as it saw them go through five different rounds, fighting off elimination in both the first and third series to end up on top of the American League.

If the party is anything like what we saw taking place in Charlotte earlier this week when the Canucks defeated the Checkers in Game 6 of the Calder Cup Final, we can only imagine it will be a celebration Abbotsford will never forget.
