For Vancouver Canucks fans who want the team to have the black skate jersey as their primary uniform, the 2025-26 season is another step in the right direction.
The Canucks just released the black skate jersey schedule for the season, and the team will be wearing the alternate jersey more than ever since switching away from the full-time fit in 1997.
Vancouver will wear the black skate jersey in 20 of their 41 home games this season. That includes the home opener, where they sported the uniforms during a 5-1 victory over the Calgary Flames.
Here are the other 19 times that the Canucks will wear the jersey in 2025-26, along with who they will host at Rogers Arena.

The narrative that the Canucks play better in their black skate jersey was true last season. Even though they were one of the worst teams in the NHL on home ice, Vancouver managed to go 8-6-4 (.555 winning percentage) while wearing the black skate jerseys last season, compared to 11-10-4 (.520 winning percentage).
In 2023-24, the Canucks went 12-4-1 (.735 winning percentage) on home ice in the black jerseys, and 15-5-4 (.708 winning percentage) in their regular blue orca jerseys.
Early in 2025, that narrative has remained true. The Canucks have their only home win in the black skate jersey, while losing their only contest in the blue orca uniform to the St. Louis Blues back on Oct. 13.
