Western Family and the Vancouver Canucks teamed up to create Bar Down Blast, a limited-edition ice cream. Vanilla flavoured blue ripple ice cream and caramel-filled mini chocolatey pucks.
The NHL finally got with the times in 2025, and Vancouver Canucks players have taken note.
Heading into the season, the NHL relaxed its dress code policy, meaning players are no longer mandated to wear suits to games.

There seems to be a couple of fashion themes among Canucks players so far, with many of them erring towards the casual side.
Oh, and most of the guys love to rock toques.

Teams have reacted to the relaxed dress code in different ways. The New Jersey Devils have been criticized for being overly casual, while the majority of Edmonton Oilers players are still suiting up.
“Guys are having fun with it,” Kiefer Sherwood told Daily Hive. “We’re kind of feeling it out as we go along.”
“Sometimes, guys wear suits to the game, and sometimes you wear a hoodie and jeans,” added Marcus Pettersson. “I think it shows a lot of personality, but I think guys will get more and more comfortable with it.”
“I gotta go shopping or something”
On opening night, a couple of Canucks players made a statement.

Elias Pettersson’s Canucks skate windbreaker was sharp, but it was Kevin Lankinen’s Flying V coat that was noticed around the NHL.

So, now that we’re over a month into the NHL’s relaxed dress code era, how are Canucks players feeling about it?
“I didn’t know how to feel about it at the start because I was more confused with what to wear,” Tyler Myers told Daily Hive.
“You wear a suit your whole career, and now you’re thrust into a different situation.”
Vets like Myers — who has been in the NHL for 17 seasons — have been wearing suits to hockey games since they were kids.
“I gotta go shopping or something,” he said. “I keep wearing the same thing.”

“It’s been pretty exciting… It’s just growing the game in different areas, and letting guys express themselves a little bit,” Sherwood said.
“I think guys are still feeling it out and kind of figuring out their own little flavour.”
“You’re used to having had a suit for so long, and now it’s kind of weird,” added Pierre-Olivier Joseph. “So, it’s kind of nice to just be able to wear them still.”
“It just shows a lot of guys’ personalities… I think people love it and we love it.”

For others, it has simply made things easier.
“If you’re on a long road trip, it saves a lot of packing,” said Marcus Pettersson.
“I started off still wearing a suit. I don’t want to think too much when I go to the game, so it took some time to settle in, and I went shopping a little bit.”
Who’s the best-dressed Canucks player?
So which player’s style has stood above the rest?
“Oh, so many guys have good styles,” Joseph said. “There are three Peteys, so it’s kind of hard.”

However, Joseph did point to Sherwood.
“I see Woody dressing good,” he said.

A couple of Canucks players were quick to point out Joseph’s fashion sense.
“He’s sneaky,” Sherwood said. “He’s got a couple of nice suits and yeah, kind of mix and match.”
“Yeah, he’s got it going.”

“P.O.’s got good style,” Myers said of the Laval native. “The Quebec guys seem to like, dive into that more.”

@Canucks/X
“I just do me, really,” Joseph said humbly. “I just don’t want to cross the line of being unprofessional or something like that. It’s kind of hard right now to kind of manage that part.”
“No DK Metcalf, no shorts so far, nothing crazy like that, but having some fun.”
Aside from Joseph, two other Canucks players received multiple votes from their peers.
“Lanks has some good style, actually,” Joseph said. “I’m not gonna lie.”
“Yeah, Lankinen’s got good style,” Sherwood added.
“Lankinen,” said Myers. “Lanks has to be up there.”
The other player who got a shoutout from his teammates was Evander Kane.
“Kaner is known to throw on some fits,” Marcus Pettersson said. “He isn’t shy to put himself out there.”

@Canucks/X
“Kaner already is putting a mark on,” Myers said. “I think he was doing that long before he got to Vancouver.”
Kane has gone both ways with his pre-game fits so far, rocking everything from designer suits to T-shirts.

We also asked players who their worst-dressed teammate was, but just one gave us an answer.

“Jake DeBrusk is at the bottom,” Myers said. “He’s too casual.”
